Integrate emerging, adaptable technologies to enhance water security in rural areas.
About the project
This system consists of mesh structures that condense fog into droplets of water. The water collected is naturally desalinated by the sun and can be used by local communities and villages for drinking and agriculture purpose.
This solution to get fresh water out of thin air has been developed by Movimiento Peruanos Sin Agua.
Impact and main outcome
Rainfall scarcity is a constraint to productivity and survival in arid and semiarid rural areas. This project represents one of the solutions to solve the groundwater problem. It allows creating a new source of drinking water, that can potentially be used also for both for domestic and agriculture production.
