Text messages to assist pregnant women and new mothers in rural areas.
About the project
This program promotes healthy practices and behaviours, using a simple but powerful text messages system to support pregnant women and mothers of newborns during the first twelve months after giving birth.
The model is initially designed by the MAMA2.0 Organisation to support the beneficiaries with limited access to the traditional health-care system.
Impact and main outcome
This project works at a systemic level engaging in the process also the local health system actors, doctors and midwives working in territorial clinics.
Thanks to MAMA2.0, information on disease prevention, tips and guidance during the pregnancy period, details on basic clinical examinations, became accessible. Text messages can be sent in native languages, reaching and empowering even to the most remote and inaccessible rural communities.
